Well he isn’t so far off completing his lifetime wish, so not too bad. I have a feeling he and Joey will be around for a while since they both worked out so much in their lives. Having said that though, I’ve had a sim get the marathon runner achievement before then die at 96 so you never know!

When Eglantine came home and had his birthday he told his dad that he really wanted to become a professional athlete and that he wanted to work with him. Balsam was extremely surprised since he’d had no idea his son had wanted to follow in his footsteps, but he was actually very flattered. He was concerned too about his son’s personality and how it might go down with the rest of the team, however, if it was what his son wanted, he was more than happy to take him down to work and get him a job. He warned his son that he would have to start at the bottom like everyone else, and that just because his dad was a bit of a star at the stadium, didn’t mean he would get any preferential treatment. Eglantine readily agreed and immediately asked his dad to train him so that he would be superfit when they went to work the next day.

Once the training began and his dad started yelling at him, clearly enjoying himself mightily, Eglantine began to regret asking him. However, it seemed to help him train faster so he guessed it would all be worth it in the end.

Much to Joey’s surprise Orchid seemed not to mind that her parents were no longer living there and she showed no sign of wanting to move out anytime soon. Ashlee phoned everyday but refused to speak to Joey. Balsam gave her daily reports on how Orchid was doing and Ashlee begged him to make sure her daughter was studying – which Balsam dutifully did. Joey was upset that Ashlee would no longer speak to her, after all she hadn’t actually done anything to deserve it. She couldn’t control what choices Orchid made, and she was just as surprised as Ashlee that she was happy staying where she was. She hoped they could fix their relationship soon. It was Balsam’s birthday soon and they were planning on having a big party, so she didn’t really want there to be any tension between everyone.

Balsam took Eglantine into work with him the next day and managed to find him a position. He reassured him that since he’d been working so hard at home, it wouldn’t take him long to advance, and since he was also naturally athletic, that would help. While he was out, Joey used her day off to set up the party for that night. She spoke to Valerian and asked him if he and Ashlee would be there. He said that of course they would since it would give them a chance to see their daughter.

When Balsam got home he was surprised to see everyone waiting for him, ready to sing Happy Birthday. He wasn’t looking forward to becoming an elder, but he had worked out a lot through his life, so was reassured that he would have a long life. When he went to blow out the candles, he wondered where his wife had got to. Then he saw her out of the kitchen window playing in the sprinklers in her bathing suit. He chuckled to himself. Even after all these years he couldn’t believe his luck in finding her. She was so beautiful, and looked amazing in her swim suit. He hoped that she wouldn’t love him any less now that he would be an old man and she was still a vibrant adult.

I’m a bit sad that Balsam’s an elder now – although since he’s completed the marathon runner thing in the athletic skill, it says he’ll be rewarded with a long life. I’m hoping it’s not too long though since the younger generations will be making their presence felt by then

Well Eglantine aged up and look at that – ha ha! I love his traits! Inappropriate just seems to fit in so well with his others. I HAVE to keep him around now. I was going to send him away since I still had Orchid in the house, but a) He’s pretty hot and b) He’s bound to be interesting to play. I’m already thinking about stories to fit around him

Orchid began to cry. She didn’t want to move to another house. She loved living where she was. She had a lovely room, a big play area, her Aunt Joey who she loved to pieces and her two cousins who she really loved. She ran to her room to cry on the bed. The adults were shocked and Valerian didn’t know what to do. Joey suggested that Orchid stay here with them for the time being and that she would soon realise that she wanted to be with her parents. Ashlee argued that Orchid was her daughter and that she belonged with her, but Balsam quietly pointed out that Orchid wanted to stay here and they had to do what was best for her. Ashlee was devastated, she had missed a lot of time being with Orchid when she was developing and this was her pay back for choosing her career. Her daughter didn’t want to stay with her, she wanted to stay with her aunt and uncle. Valerian tried to console his wife, but she was too upset. She announced that she would be going to the new house tonight as she didn’t want to stay in the same house as Joey anymore.

Joey was upset by Ashlee’s comments, she hadn’t known that Orchid would want to stay with them and didn’t understand why she did, but she wasn’t going to turn the child away if it was what she wanted. And she honestly believed that once Orchid realised how much she missed her parents she would be more than happy to go and live with them in their new house. The next morning Valerian called a taxi and said goodbye to his daughter. She was happier knowing that she could stay where she was, but she was going to miss her mum and dad all the same. Valerian walked to the taxi with a heavy heart. He hoped that Joey was right and that his daughter would come to her senses. He would just have to reassure her that they would always love her no matter what.

That weekend Orchid made the trip across town on her bike to see her parents new house.  It was quite a small cottage, but they seemed to like it. She spent her time telling them all about the things she was learning in school and her new friend Pamela Simovitch. She was a bit older than she was, but they got on quite well so it didn’t matter that her friend had just become a teenager.

They asked how everyone else was doing and Orchid told them that Balsam had now reached the top of the Athletics career and wore a very snappy suit, she told them that Joey had also been promoted, but still had a few levels to go before she reached Celebrity Chef status. Thyme was also getting on well in the science track and his vegetable patch had grown a great deal. Valerian then broached the subject of whether Orchid wanted to come and live with them yet. He told her about the room they had set up just for her, but she shook her head. She didn’t want to live here. Just as Ashlee was about to cry all over again, Orchid invited her outside to play. Valerian squeezed her shoulder and gave her a push out of the door. She understood. She could be upset when Orchid had gone, but while she was here she should make the best of it.

They ran outside and began to play tag. They ran and played and ran some more until Ashlee was exhausted and falling over laughing. Just as she was beginning to feel that everything would be ok, Orchid announced that she had to leave. She got out her bike and began to cycle down the road. Ashlee was so upset, she couldn’t even watch her leave, she just stared off into the trees.

I knew I had to move Valerian out, but I just didn’t want to part with Orchid yet. I really wanted to see how she grew up. I’m now down to 5 in the house which is a bit more manageable.

Well, not much I can say about Orchid really. You can’t really tell yet how she’ll grow up, but I’m praying she’s got her mum’s looks. She definitely doesn’t have Constance’s and Valerian’s eye bags. Hurrah!

Well he’s not too bad. I don’t really have any feelings about Thyme and I don’t even have anyone lined up to be the new Mrs Androecium yet. I think I’ll wait until he gets more settled in his career. Although you never know, he might meet someone at work and take care of the problem of finding a match for himself

His aunt Ashlee had already left for work for the day and Eglantine had run out to get the bus to school before it left. He wasn’t too bothered about sticking round to see his brother get older, he preferred being at school and hiding out in the gym so he didn’t have to be around people. He’d already had detention a few times for slacking off, but he really didn’t care. After all, he thought, you don’t need brains to be an athlete.

Balsam was still in bed when his eldest son aged up. He’d been out late visiting Thistle who had now moved in with his old friend Alvaro. They were living in a bizarre tower like house and Balsam couldn’t understand why Thistle would give up his lovely cottage to go and live somewhere with two tiny bedrooms. However, it wasn’t his life so he kept quiet about it.

Valerian aged up that afternoon with very little ceremony – after all, it only meant he was that bit closer to becoming an elder, and who wants to celebrate that?

After Ashlee got back from work that evening, she went to fetch her daughter so that she could blow out the candles on her cake. Orchid had other ideas though and decided it would be funny to hide in the toybox and play with her toys where no one would find her. She wasn’t ready to grow up yet, she was having far too much fun as a toddler. She had books to read with her aunt, she had toys to play with and all the grown ups loved giving her snuggles. She wouldn’t get that when she was a child, she’d have to be more self reliant, and Orchid loved being the centre of attention.

Much to her dismay, her mother found her without too much trouble and took her down to the cake. Everyone who was around gathered at the cake, even though many were tired after a long day at work. Thyme made an appearance, but his mind was on his work. He wanted to get promoted as soon as he could and was thinking about running out with the Collection Helper to find some more seeds to plant to expand his garden.

I didn’t want Orchid to grow up yet, she was such a lovely toddler. Everyone in the house was always ready to play with her or read to her if I hadn’t programmed in any actions. Course they would also quite often fight over the computers too

Ashlee was also busy with work and before long she had been taken on as a doctor. She really enjoyed her work, but she was worried about the amount of time she and the other adults were out of the house. After a long talk with Valerian he decided that he would be the one to give up his job. He had enjoyed working in the music industry, but it left him very little time to work on fulfilling his lifetime wish, and it meant that he could spend more time with all the rest of the family. Ashlee was happy with the decision as it meant she didn’t have to feel guilty about putting in so many hours at work. She didn’t get to spend too much time with her daughter but it was ok, she knew that Orchid would understand.

She did manage to spend some of her time off teaching her daughter how to use the potty, so she didn’t feel too much like a terrible mother. Balsam managed to max out his athletic skill, so he was very close to completing his lifetime wish. He was very proud of himself for getting so close. He often came home from work now to spend time with his eldest son playing chess, since it was something they were both interested in. It was a way they could work on developing their skills while keeping their relationship on a good footing, since the house was so busy and everyone usually focussed on their own needs that they didn’t always have the time to sit down and talk.

Joey was also progressing well in the culinary career and she was also well on her way to completing her lifetime wish. She felt a little silly now for being so worried when she was pregnant with Eglantine, but she had been so young, she guessed it had been understandable at the time. She really enjoyed her work, except for the odd occasion when there was an accident in the kitchen and she got singed. That usually put her in a bad mood for a good while, but she was always happy to return to work the next day.

She was very proud of her boys, and actually got on very well with Orchid too. She had missed out on having a little girl of her own, and really enjoyed spending time with her niece. She taught her how to talk, and would often read books to her to unwind after work. Since she hated television and computers, for her reading was a pleasure.

It was almost time for several birthdays in the house, so everyone was busy popping into town to buy presents in between school and jobs. Everything was so hectic!

This house is actually getting so busy and it’s hard to keep a track on what everyone is up to. I think I’m going to have to get Valerian to move out since Thyme is almost a young adult and will be wanting to start his own family. There are currently seven sims in the house, so I really do have to move some of them out to make some room. I just don’t want to though! I love Valerian’s family

Well! That was a shock. Green hair – when Valerian and Ashlee had no green whatsoever. How does that work then?! Not that I’m complaining of course, the more green the better I say For some reason I didn’t get to roll any of her traits, they were automatically selected by the game. I didn’t think Ashlee’s pregnancy had been that bad, but I must have let her needs get too low a few too many times.
